Questions for Your Insurance Agent #10 - What insurance changes do you see coming at us?

The insurance marketplace is extremely dynamic. Insurer's appetite for business changes throughout the year and, sometimes, with the experience of underwriters. A good agent stays on top of these market changes. As your insurance comes closer to renewal, your agent should be considering options and adjustments to your insurance plan.

Your loss experience also changes the ways insurers look at your company. Several losses over a short period of time can impact the renewal that's coming up. New players may enter the marketplace or specialty programs may come online. Your agent should look at a wide variety of options as he approaches your renewal.


Underlying all the questions in my white paper is an analysis of the abilities and work your agent does for you. How comfortable are you with your agent? Is he paying attention to you and your needs? Are you comfortable with his efforts on your behalf? Is this agent the best agent for you?

Maine and Other Stuff

Last week we got 15 inches of snow! We lost power for 30 hours. It stunk! Last night another 2 inches fell. I want spring! The goldfinches are at the feeder. Some birds were trying to build nests in the snow. Next year I will be writing this from my winter home in Savanah, if my wife will let me. (wink)

Today, my Rotary Club finishes up the distribution of dictionaries to every third-grader in our area - a few more than 700. It has been an amazing experience! Some of these kids have never owned a book. Some kids are clutching the dictionary like someone will try to take it away from them. Some can't believe that they get to take the books home, "for keeps." In the scheme of things, we are not spending a lot of money on this - maybe $2,200 total. We have had ten members active in the project who have put in perhaps 30 total man-hours into the organization. What an amazing thing though! Our members are getting stopped in the streets being thanked by total strangers. This may be the most meaningful project we have been involved in.
