Life In Maine and Other Stuff The snow seems to come every other day. Last year at this time we had about 19 inches. This year it's 84! I'm in the woods 4 days a week now snowshoeing. Might as well enjoy the winter; complaining won't do anything. The snow has also increased the birds at the feeders. I'm filling them twice-a-day some days. My workers' compensation book has been well received. Go to my store at www.InsuranceBookShop.com and get your own copy. Also, my new booklet is out, How to Bid Your Insurance. I'm almost done with Rick Reilly's new book, "Hate Mail From CHeerleaders." Rick was a writer for Sports Illustrated until a few months ago. I understand he will join ESPN soon. I have long thought Reilly was one of the best writers in America. I'm not a huge sports fan. However, his stories are very human. Some will make you cry. Most will have you laughing out loud. I gave a speech the other day to a business group on some of the leadership principles espoused by Peter Drucker. I touched on three simple statements he made: -The purpose of a business is to create and keep customers. - There is nothing so useless as doing efficiently that which should not be done at all. - Effective leadership is not about making speeches or being liked; leadership is defined by results not attributes. Simple ideas that get overlooked regularly in our business lives.
