Hurricane Katrina

Speculation inside the insurance industry is that Katrina will carry the biggest insurance losses in history. It looks like $20 - $35 billion. Total losses could top $100 billion. Hundreds of insurance company adjusters are on the scene. Insurance companies seem to be responding well to the disaster.

In all, it's an awesome example of natures power. The relief efforts are an example of humankind's resilience.

Let’s Play Pretend…

Let’s pretend that yesterday you learned that your business has been completely destroyed. Your building, inventory, equipment, files, furniture, computers, customer lists, accounting records, and everything else that was in your office, plant, store, or shop is gone.

Obviously this is close to the scenario being played out in Mississippi and Louisiana right now. What would you do?

Life In Maine And Other Stuff - End of the vacationer’s summer is now here in Maine. It always amazes me that the tourists seem to think that the snows start right after Labor Day. Truth is, September and October are spectacular months here. I'm going to the mountains this weekend and whitewater rafting in a few weeks. Might even have a few lobsters before the snow flies!
